Q: What is your favorite Smallmouth Bass fishing technique?

A: My favorite technique is to look for bait (Crawdads and Minnows). Focus on the size and type of bait available to the fish. If you catch a fish, look to see what is in the fish’s mouth. Also, try to determine where in the water column the fish are feeding – on the surface, on the bottom, or somewhere in between. If you don’t know what bait is around, I recommend using a crawfish pattern (fly or spin) and try bouncing it off the bottom with a pretty fast retrieve.
